The Country Homestead is located on the West Slope of the Loess Hills, looking west on 15 miles of Missouri River flood plain, one mile north of Turin. It offers the spacious simplicity of a house more than a century old. It is blessed with antiques that have been passed down through the family for 137 years -- a player piano and an Edison phonograph to name a few. One of our recent guests remarked, "You are only 10 miles off the Interstate, but hundreds of miles from the hustle and bustle." Another, from Tennessee said, "It

There is plenty of piece and quiet if you desire it. And there is ample opportunity to hike, tour, or explore the native prairie of the Loess Hills.
-Celebration - We encourage our guests to take time out and celebrate.
-Breakfast - A full farm breakfast is scheduled to fit your desire.
-Tours or Biking - Loess Hills tours can be selected from maps provided and tour routes recommended. Monona County, alone, has over 1,000 miles of quiet country roads (bring your bikes).
-Hiking - Loess Hills Prairie is right out the back door. You are welcome to hike on your own. If you desire a resident guide, we will join you.
-Lewis and Clark State Park - see the replica of Lewis & Clark's Keelboat, and chat with Friends of Discovery about historical details of the expedition.
-Conversation - When the occasion arises we join our guests in recovering the lost art of conversation. We have always found this genuinely rewarding.
