Luna Valley Farm

Website: https://www.lunavalleyfarm.com

Since buying our farm four years ago we have been growing organic crops, grazing sheep and cattle on pasture, powering our farm and home with the sun, and growing deep roots in our community. We’ve also been discovering that we love bringing people together over good food, especially when we can share ingredients we’ve grown here at Luna Valley Farm.

Because of that passion, we are now cooking up some of the tastiest pizzas around in our wood fired oven right here on the farm, using ingredients that we’ve lovingly grown in our beautiful valley or sourced from other local farms. Pizza nights at Luna Valley Farm offer delicious, homegrown food in a tucked-away setting. We invite you to come wander the field roads, relax and reconnect over our artisan wood fired pizza.

Hours: Open Fridays from May - October from 4-8pm. (We recommend coming early). Come out and enjoy soaking up a beautiful Northeast Iowa evening in the company of friends and family. We will make pizzas as fast as we can but we ask that you come prepared to wait at least an hour for your pizza (feel free to bring your own snacks to eat while you wait).

Directions: Our farm is located at 3012 Middle Sattre Road, 8 miles north of Decorah. Coming from Decorah take Locust Road out of town for 4 miles until coming to Canoe Ridge where you turn right and drive for a few miles until you see the German Methodist Church on the left hand side. Turn left before the church onto Middle Sattre Road and follow it for a few miles until you get deep down in a valley. Our place is on the right after you pass over 2 bridges. Our new Luna Valley Farm sign is out by the road to greet you! We are about 2.5 hours from Madison and Minneapolis, 1.5 hours from Rochester and an hour from LaCrosse.

Parking: The parking area for pizza nights is in a pasture located halfway down our driveway. It is on the right-hand side as you come in. We will have a sign with an arrow pointing you in the right direction. From the pasture you will follow a field road along our bottom field, past the chicken house and up to the barn. If it is difficult for you to walk on uneven surfaces or you prefer to park closer, please drive past the parking sign and park across from our garage.

Seating: If you've ever been to a pizza night on a farm, you know that the model is for guests to bring their own chairs and blankets and spread out across the farm for a unique dining experience. We have several picnic tables but they fill up quickly so we recommend bringing your own blankets and chairs. We see limited seating as one ingredient for building community. Grab your pizza and meet a new friend!

Dishes: All of our pizzas are served on cardboard rounds or in boxes. Please bring your own tableware if you would like it.

Weather/Rain: In case of rain, we do have rustic indoor seating in our barn (it's actually really cozy in there when it's raining!)

Payment: We accept both credit cards and cash, though our preference is for cash. Less credit card fees for small businesses mean that more money is able to circulate in our local community!

Drinks: Our cooler is stocked with a great assortment of wine, beer, soda and sparkling water. We offer some great locally produced beverages available including beer from Toppling Goliath Brewing Company, Peace Tree and Exile, soda from both Spring Grove (Spring Grove, MN) and Wiscopop (Viroqua) and sparkling water from Wiscopop. No BYOB.

Gluten Free Crust: We are happy to use a gluten free crust or omit cheese from your pizza but please note that we are not able to accommodate those with severe allergies in our kitchen. You are more than welcome to bring your own food so you can enjoy the farm and time with family/friends.

Trash/Recycling: Where we live there is no trash/recycling pick up so we ask that you carry out all items that you bring in or purchase while at our farm. We will have limited receptacles available for those who are not able to pack out their own.

Restrooms: There are two restrooms in our barn that are still under construction but are functional.

Flashlight/Head Lamp: Bring one! Sometimes the moon appears to illuminate the way back to the car but bring one just in case.

Outside Food: For now we only serve pizza and drinks. We invite you to bring your own salads, appetizers, desserts and anything else that will make your meal and time on our farm special. We just ask that you don't bring in any outside beverages.

Pets: We love animals but ask that you leave yours at home.

Exploring the Farm: We hope that you slow down and enjoy our farm when you come out for dinner. This is a working farm so when walking around please stick to the field roads. Assume all fences are electric and make sure to keep a careful eye on children. Round bales are REALLY tempting to climb on (trust us, we know) but our sheep ask that you please don't climb on their winter food. We know it is tempting to walk barefoot but ask that you please wear shoes to protect your feet from anything that might not be nice to step on (or in)! We are really excited to have you out to our farm and just ask that you take care as you walk around and treat our property the way you would want us to treat yours if we came for a visit.

Smoking: No smoking allowed on the grounds of Luna Valley Farm. Thank you for respecting this policy.
