Welcome to Whitetail Valley in the rolling hills of Southwest Iowa’s Loess Hills region. This beautiful natural setting is home to the many whitetail deer that inspire the name of our farm. We are located adjacent to the camping, fishing and outdoor recreational resources of Viking Lake State Park. We celebrate our Swiss family heritage of stewardship, quality, and hospitality.
Welcome to Whitetail Valley Orchards, our sustainably managed traditional Steuobstwiese meadow orchard. Over 125 full-sized trees allow sunlight and breezes to reach our more than 60 varieties of apples, including antique, vintage and red-fleshed apples. Grown sustainably with little need for chemical inputs, this dispersed orchard method nurtures pollinators, beneficial species, and healthful fruit for you to enjoy.
Our orchards are perfect for strolling, guided learning, or simply soaking in the scenery. At harvest time apples are available that you’ll never find in a store. Grampaw’s Punkin Patch has fall fun for the little ones that’s not scary or gory. Join a farm tour exploring autumn beauty on our walking trails, or take in a cider-pressing demonstration and take home some fresh cider.
Welcome to the simple pleasures of family tradition, sustainable production, and heartfelt hospitality at Whitetail Valley—where the land, the production, and the people all come together in this special place. You are welcome here not as customers, but as guests and friends.
We invite you to share our Gemütlichkeit* amidst the peaceful beauty of our corner of Iowa! Welcome to Whitetail Valley!
*(Gemutlichkeit: (German) A deep sense of belonging, relaxation, and peace arising from being in a pleasant environment, surrounded by good company, and enjoying simple pleasures.)
